Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion Tuesday 5:30-8:30 pm

Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current).
Bronze Medallion (18-20 hr.): Teaches a basic understanding of the lifesaving principles; the 4 components of water-rescue education- judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Rescuers learn basic tows, carries, defense methods, and releases of conscious and unconscious swimmers.Lifesavers study the Canadian Lifesaving Manual, develop stroke efficiency and endurance, and are evaluated in a final exam on the last day of class. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross and National Lifeguard Awards, and includes a 500m endurance swim.
